Wolf is essentially designed to be Fox's counterpart. He bears several similar character traits, such as an adept ability to lead and mastery over various forms of combat, although all but aerial combat is not shown as much as it is for Fox. Revenge is also a part of his mindset, as he does not take defeat lightly.
Although rivals ready to shoot each other down, Wolf does possess a begrudging respect for Fox, and has even deigned to assist Fox when the situation has called for it.
 Star Fox 64
Wolf's first appearance. Andross hires the Star Wolf team in an effort to hinder the advance of the Star Fox team. In gameplay Wolf normally chases after Fox, choosing to leave the others to his allies.
 Star Fox: Assault
Wolf returns at the lead of Star Wolf. While no longer in the employ of Andross, Wolf still wishes to take Star Fox down. However, his priorities change when the Aparoids attack, causing him to assist Fox in defeating the enemy.
 Star Fox Command
Wolf returns as a pilot in this game. In some instances Wolf once again assists Fox in defeating the new enemy. Wolf continues to pilot the Wolfen, which is arguably one of the best ships in the game, with twin lasers, multi lock, 1 bomb, good shields and excellent boost.
 Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Wolf finally finds a spot in the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable fighter, unlocked either by playing 450 versus matches, beating Boss battle mode with Fox or Falco or recruiting him in the Subspace Emissary mode. Wolf is heavier and slower than the two Star Fox members but hits harder. His abilities bear some similarities to those pilots as well, such as the use of a blaster and reflector for his special skills. Likewise, Wolf can summon a Landmaster tank as his Final Smash, with its appearance more befitting of a Star Wolf pilot. It boasts the better firepower and better hovering, but does not stay on the battlefield for as long.
